News: A new calendar
What?
So, recently the news has been going around that an older - the earliest known - Maya calendar has been discovered. The significance of this is that the calendar extends beyond the one which has set off this spate of doomsday predictions. It tracks time for several thousand years after 2012, thus causing the scattering of news articles to say something like "oh well, the world isn't ending after all"...
Wow, really?
This, of course, is all moot because the Maya didn't predict any world-ending business. Show me a scholar who claims that the Maya did predict disastrous events, and i'll show you their Doomsday book for sale on Amazon.
